January is the best month of the whole year. Not b/c it is my birthday month, not b/c you have just survived Christmas and have hopefully started your New Year w/ a Big Bang, but b/c it is horse time in the Spa City. The horse races are one of my favorite things to do and if I lived in Hot Springs I would be so, so poor and probably homeless. I copied some stuff off Oaklawn website.. The Smarty Jones Stakes look very lucretive and also he was a very, very good horse and we should be proud to say he was from Arkansas.. No, we have yet to get a horse like Man o' War but I think if we keep supporting Arkansas Racing we will get there!! Well, read away and I hope you peeps get to the races b/w January 18th and April, I know I sure will be!! Oh, and if you need pointers I may be nice & tell some of my great secrets to ya!! Also, box seats are not that expensive so I suggest you spend the extra money for luxury!!! Not to mention the corn beef sandwiches are 50 cents opening w/e and are to die for!!!
Simulcast, Instant Racing and Gaming continue to Oaklawn, however it is clear that the bustle of something important coming and that is, of course, the live racing season, which gets under way on Friday, January 18.
The Opening Day festivities, which include the price rollback on Corned Beef Sandwiches, which will once again be offered at 50 cents, will start a four-day weekend that includes the Martin Luther King holiday, Monday, January 21. On that day Oaklawn debuts a new stakes race, the $50,000 Smarty Jones Stakes, and will offer a free Smarty Jones commemorative Bobble Horse to paid admission as long as the supply lasts. This collector's item is sure to be a big hit with Oaklawn fans as the anticipation is building towards Oaklawn's three-year-old program which has turned out major champions each of the last four years.
Simulcast players will get to continue enjoying racing programs from across the country until Tuesday, January 15, when the Simulcast Center will close down in anticipation of the Friday opening. Limited evening racing around the country on Mondays and Tuesdays in January will shorten the racing programs on those days, but excellent racing programs will be available the rest of the weeks leading up to the opening. In particular tracks like Gulfstream Park, Fair Grounds and Santa Anita will be offering performances on Monday afternoons throughout January, making that a very interesting simulcast day for most players.
Oaklawn Reserved Seat Office remains open Monday-Friday each week to address your needs for seats for the 2008 live season. Dining reservations for the live meet will go on sale, starting Wednesday, January 9, 2008. To contact the Reserved Seat Office, call 1-800-OAKLAWN, extension 130, or (501) 623-4411, extension 130.
Here is a pic of my new tattoo, I could not get my camera to focus so it doesn't look that fabulous, but it is finally almost healed and I can not wait until summer to show it off!!
This is my new North Face jacket that I got for my birthday and I love it, I didn't get the one I really wanted b/c it was like $175 so I settled for this one which still was a pretty penny. Plus, I got some new Nikes and a pink Columbia watch.
I got this nifty bag for my birthday. It is the perferct size to carry school books in my friend Donna bought for me at Target.
Ok, I am sure as most of the Warren bloggers know I have been friends w/ Jowaun Wright since we were in high school, and we had a dinner date last night and he reminded me that we need to start voting for his younger brother Jarius for the Landers Award click on KATV.com and click on the link Landers Award and find his name and vote!! Reed McKinney won in 2001 so we need to show the big towns that Warren is going to be a repeat winner!! You can vote as much as you would like!!
